So you want to live “off
the grid? Well, finding the right off grid living resources is easier than you might think and there are several options to
choose from.
Depending on the geographic location, a solar power system or a wind generator is going to be the best
option. Obviously, if there is no wind at a certain location, building a wind generator is out of the
question.
First, let’s talk about solar power systems. This is what I call “the best off grid living resources”
because of its simplicity and cost effectiveness. Basically, solar power works by collecting the energy output of the sun and
converting that energy into usable electricity. Sound simple doesn’t it.
Let’s start with a really simple solar power setup called a “portable solar power system. Supplies needed
include – solar panels, charge controller, battery and inverter. This is a system that can cost less than $200 to build and
can pay for itself in a matter of weeks.
This type of system is great for outdoor use but may be used for servicing indoor appliances such as
refrigerators and stoves. Just run the appliances straight off the inverter.
This type of system should take care of all your off grid living resources.
